How we rank

Listings are ranked by things that predict a good homeowner outcome — in this order:

1. Verification status. Businesses whose identity, insurance and (where a registry exists) licence we have checked rank above unverified listings.
2. Verified-job reviews. Reviews only exist for jobs booked through a HomeTarget quote and confirmed completed, so they cannot be bought or imported.
3. Responsiveness. Pros who reply to quote requests quickly and consistently rank above pros who let requests sit.
4. Relevance. Exact service and area match for the page you are on.

Paid Featured placement can put a listing in the Featured slots at the top of a page. Featured listings are always labelled “Sponsored — Featured listing”, payment never changes a business's review score, and no business can pay to remove a genuine review. No listing is described with superlatives we cannot verify — you will not find “best”, “cheapest” or “#1” claims about businesses on HomeTarget.
